Sunday June 19, 2022 Outdoor Worship and Picnic
On June 19, a cool and windy but sunny day, BLC held its Outdoor Worship and Picnic at Perinton’s Center Park. The final official 100th Anniversary Sunday worship, it was a powerful and energy-filled service. Pastor Amy and Pastor Hoffman spoke to Paul’s letter to the Galatians, “There is no longer Jew or Greek; there is no longer slave or free; there is no longer male and female…”After reminding us that we all have different identities that make us who we are, but that our one lasting identity is Child of God, we were asked write our own unique identities on a piece of fabric and pin it to the cross to highlight the unity that weshare. A surprise guest, Carl Volbracht, our organist and choir director from 1972-75, was in attendance and was recognized.
Following worship, a lunch consisting of Wegmans subs, side dishes contributed by the congregation, and anniversary cake was served. A children’s bounce house, a balloon artist, and a magician added to the festive atmosphere. As it was the first time in a few years that we were able to gather together in person for this annual event due to previous COVID restrictions, everyone appreciated seeing mask-free faces! A good time was had by all!
