LYO – OUR MISSION STATEMENT

Bethlehem Lutheran Church Lutheran Youth Organization is an inclusive group where youth come together to explore, cultivate, and share experiences to grow stronger in faith. Together we learn, have fun, and give back to the community while building lifelong friendships in Christ.

LYO: Students in grades 9-12 connect every week at 7:30 pm via zoom. (see our Calendar of Events page to join the Zoom directly through the calendar listing!!)

What to expect:

We start youth group with socializing and ice breakers. We follow that by talking about the bible study for that week. We allow an environment for students to dive deep into topics in a safe and inviting environment. Come stop by!

Typical Youth Events

  • BLC LYO

    We participate in a variety of activities together throughout the year.

  • Lock Ins:

    We usually hold 1 in the fall and 1 in the spring. Students spend 1 day and night in the church to play games, have devotionals, and participate in activities designed to encourage a deeper relationship with God and their peers.

  • 30 Hour Famine

    Students fast for 30 hours to raise money for different world hunger relief organizations. We engage in different activities that allow us to understand world hunger from a different perspective.

  • Workcamp:

    Each year our group doesn’t attend the ELCA national youth gathering we participate in a week home repair mission trip. We work with other youth from around the country on renovation projects on the homes of people in the community. Group also provides a morning and evening program designed to help youth cultivate their faith. Visit Group’s website for more information at groupmissiontrips.com!

  • National Youth Gathering:

    The ELCA holds a national youth gathering every 4 years. Each gathering is in a different city. Due to COVID 19, the gathering has been pushed to 2022. The theme will be, “boundless: God beyond measure” will take place July 24th – 28th 2022 in Minneapolis. Visit this website to find out more https://www.elca.org/youthgathering!
