BLC QUILTERS ARE CALLING YOU

During the worship service, while we hear Scripture and sermon in worship, kids ages 3 through elementary school are invited to a special time of hearing the Word just for them!  They will gather in the room next to Pastor Hoffman’s office where they will hear a Bible story (usually from the Spark Story Bible), maybe watch a short video introducing the theme or message or sometimes do an activity, talk about the story and pray together. Then they’ll return to the sanctuary before we begin communion.  We hope this allows the youngest saints to both participate fully in worship (the gathering time and the meal) while also hearing God’s Word in a developmentally-appropriate way.

Children in kindergarten through grade 5 are invited to sing and make music together – learning about God and music and having fun along the way!  In addition to singing, the Children’s Choir regularly uses Orff instruments and hand chimes as well. Rehearsals are after worship on Sundays from 10:15- 11am, September through May, and the children occasionally shares their music at the 8:55am service on Sunday mornings. Pastor Amy will lead a (second) book study on The God Who Sees: Immigrants, the Bible and the Journey to Belong by Karen Gonzalez. for anyone who is interested. The book examines scripture alongside the stories and realities of present-day immigration challenges. You can participate in this monthly group in person or via Zoom.

JOY (Jesus, Others, You) is a new group at Bethlehem for kids in 3rd – 5th grade. This group will meet monthly in their own room downstairs with their own fellowship snacks. On the Sundays when JOY will meet, 3rd – 5th graders will be invited to communion first, then will leave worship and meet until 10:15am. During this time kids will share a snack, work on a service project together and use the practices of the Faith 5 (Share, Read, Talk, Pray, Bless) to discover the connections between Jesus, others and themselves.
