GWOH to Support Seafarer’s International House
In keeping with last year, we will be supporting Seafarer’s International Christmas at Sea program. For the last 3 years, BLC has generously supported Seafarer’s International House (sihnyc.org). SIH is the Lutheran response to the urgent needs of vulnerable seafarers and immigrants.
We have a goal of providing 75 satchels filled with gifts as part of the Christmas at Sea program. Through November 16th, we will be collecting the items needed to fill the satchels. Our GWOH project will culminate in a packing event as we enter for Worship on November 23. We’ll have an opportunity to bless the satchels during service before they are shipped to their deserving recipients. We invite you to spread the joy of Christmas among those who will not be home with their loved ones.
Baskets will be placed in the narthex for collecting the following requested new and unused items:
- (Need 40) Sweatshirt- hooded or unhooded (size LARGE only)
- (Need 225) Socks – thermal or gym
- (Need 40) T- Shirt (size LARGE only)
- (Need 75) Knitted Winter Cap (coordinating scarf optional; no pastels please) Need instructions? See the one on this page or MORE AVAILABLE HERE
- (Need 50) Planter’s Peanuts (12-16oz container)
You pick the colors, styles and brands, they need not be expensive, but please no substitutions from the list. For the safety of seafarers, please do not add fringes or pom-poms to the hats and scarves. The Christmas-at-Sea satchels should be comparable for each member of the crew.
