The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. (John 1:5)

Advent coincides with the longest stretches of darkness we experience in the entire year (at least for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere!). The days grow shorter and shorter during the month of December, lengthening again only three days before we celebrate the birth of Christ, the Light of the world. For many, this shrinking window of daylight can feel like a shrinking window of the Light – especially this year, so full of anxiety and uncertainty brought on by the pandemic, political upheaval, and more. Advent this year gives us all the more reason to Watch for the Light – keeping vigilant in seeking out and ushering in the glimpses of the Light of Christ that is coming into the world.  Share with the whole community of faith in listening to God’s Word, sharing stories and testifying to the Light, and bringing the Light of Christ into our homes and our lives this season.
