Bethlehem has a place for you!
What’s truly unusual at Bethlehem Lutheran Church is the number and variety of activities for people of all ages and the level of involvement of the congregation. Here, God’s people worship & pray, study & share and join together in fellowship & in service.
We welcome those who jump in with both feet and those who prefer to watch for a while and find their own niche. We welcome you!
Providing opportunities for the study of God’s word, from the Holy Scriptures to God’s presence in today’s world, is part of the mission of the church. Learn. Ponder. Discuss. Grow in faith!

We regularly offer age-appropriate activities for the younger members of our church. We start at birth with a Young Families Fellowship, including parents of children three and under. From potlucks to playdates, we build relationships and share experiences of raising the youngest among us in the faith. In addition to Sunday School for faith formation, we have regular events geared towards families, including an annual Beach Day at the Perinton Rec Center; an Easter egg hunt; a Halloween party and more. Our G-Gang (for 6th to 8th graders) and Lutheran Youth Organization (for high schoolers) hold lock-ins a few times a year, attend an annual Winter Weekend retreat with other churches, engage in service activities in our community and elsewhere through Group Workcamp and the ELCA Youth Gathering and more.
MINISTRY TO OTHERS
We are a caring congregation that reaches out to build relationships half way around the world – with a twinned parish in Zimbabwe – and through social ministry in our own community. We host a monthly Dinner Ministry; we serve at Habitat for Humanity and Grace House (transition program for men leaving incarceration) and many other programs.
If you don’t see a ministry that speaks to you, invent one! Members of Bethlehem were instrumental in founding the Advent House hospice and Safe Journey, a program for victims of domestic violence.
Psalm 100 says, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands,” and Lutherans have a rich tradition of music in worship. We are blessed with wonderful musical talent at BLC and we offer opportunities for all who find joy in making music.
- Cherub Choir for the youngest singers
- Joyful Noise Choir for the 4th grade and older
- Chancel Choir for high school & adults
- Folk Group
- Youth Bell Choir
- Adult Bell Choir
- Instrumental Solos
- Instrumental Groups from rock band to brass quintet to chamber orchestra for special occasions
The organ at BLC is a hand-crafted tracker pipe organ built by A. David Moore and his team of artisans.
From laughter and sharing over free donuts at the Sunday morning coffee hour to events for all ages, the members of BLC enjoy spending time together.
Adult members come together for special events like game nights or progressive dinners and on an ongoing basis for both men’s and women’s fellowship, a quilting group, caring for church property, Fun Over Fifty field trips and Breadbreakers small group dinners.
In addition to events hosted at the church, our youth enjoy good times with others who share their values with opportunities like choir camp, confirmation camp, recreational outings and teen retreats.
We also enjoy opportunities for family fun – our annual fall fellowship event, Sunday School picnic, pot luck dinners, ski outings, charity walks and summer camping weekends for the whole family!
