Lenten Worship NotesFeb 21, 2020
Transfiguration Sunday – February 23
This festival is a bridge between the Advent- Christmas-Epiphany cycle that comes to a close on Sunday and the Lent-Easter cycle that begins with Ash Wednesday, February 26. On a high mountain Jesus is revealed as God’s beloved Son, echoing the words at his baptism. This vision of glory sustains us as Jesus faces his impending death in Jerusalem. At the conclusion of the liturgy, we “bury” the alleluia as we set aside this word of joy during the penitential season of Lent, only to return with gusto on Easter!
Ash Wednesday – Wednesday, February 26 at 7 pm
Our Lenten season begins with Ash Wednesday worship at 7 pm. Visit the resources menu at http://www.blcfairport.org for the full schedule of worship and events for the Lenten season.
