*Take Part in BLC’s Prayer Vigil

Maundy Thursday service to Good Friday service:

Our Lenten journey began in the ashes of Ash Wednesday – a reminder of the brokenness we share with all of creation. But God refuses to give up on us and comes to us making covenantal promises to love us and restore us.  How can we respond to such unexpected and undeserved grace?  In the words of Jesus, “you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.”  Throughout Lent, we’ve struggled with our brokenness, God’s covenants, and the all-encompassing love this commandment calls us to live.

Our Lenten journey is nearing its end and the drama of Holy Week is beginning to unfold.  The fickleness of the crowds, and us, will give way to the focal point of all history where God’s love for the world and God’s saving grace to redeem his broken creation reach their fullness.  And, just as these events begin, we remember how Jesus, on that first Maundy Thursday asked his disciples to, “Stay awake and pray that you may not come into the time of trial.”  Christ’s call to pray, especially on this holy night, comes to us across the ages.   Join your Bethlehem family, so that together we can keep a continuous prayer vigil at the altar, stripped bare on Maundy Thursday, until the Tenebrae Service of Shadows on Good Friday.  A sign-up sheet, with all the details, is on the LIVE kiosk in the narthex for you to find your time to be part of this powerful time of prayer and vigil.  For more information, contact Dan J.
