*Mission Focus for April – Social EqualithApr 13, 2018
When is a debt paid? Have you ever considered what it means to pay one’s debt to society? People who have been released from prison have paid the debt that society judged as appropriate for their actions. Yet they face extreme difficulty after release, finding jobs and housing. This inequity results in high rates of recidivism (the tendency of a convicted criminal to reoffend), lack of family stability, homelessness, alcoholism, and drug abuse which in turn affects society.
Inequitable justice affects us all. BLC helps to ease the transition from prison with our support of Grace House. Ask someone on the MSC committee about this important mission
